I was first seduced by the colorful world of Burlesque in 2002 back in Montreal, but it was not until 7 years later that I was able to delve into and indulge in this seductive world. The Art of the Tease is a cultural phenomenon born of the late 1800s. Shaped by the various social and political forces of the decades to come, the once popular theatrical performance was slowly degraded to mere striptease until its final demise in the late 1950s and 60s. Yet, in the last 10 years, this art-form has witnessed a worldwide revival. It is theatrical, it is sexy and it is all about the celebration of our bodies - whether through dance, humor or striptease. In this ongoing photo-documentary I also take a peak behind the curtains and unveil all the work that goes into the elaborate costumes, sexy props and vibrant energy.
